Papa John’s Delivery Driver Interview Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Papa John’s Delivery Driver: When I worked there, I was a pizza delivery driver, so my primarily duty was delivering pizza, but we had other duties depending on if we worked day or night, we focused on preparing or cleaning up the store for the day or the next day, getting the food out, or closing up shop, and just kind of doing the maintenance and getting everything put back for the next day.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Papa John’s Delivery Driver: It was a lot of fun. A lot of that was dependent on the people I worked with. They were a really good team. It was a fun atmosphere, and I ended up working there a long time because of that. So, it was a relaxed environment. So, it was a fun place to work.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Papa John’s Delivery Driver: A fairly easy application process. I think for delivery drivers, they want to know about your driving records. I think, if I remember right, you could only have a couple tickets. You couldn’t have any serious offenses, like driving or DUI or anything like that. But the application didn’t require a high school diploma or anything like that. It was an easy process.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Papa John’s Delivery Driver: They wanted to know alot about your personality type. Sort of questions on how you deal with the customer. They want to make sure you’re going to be polite and sort of present yourself and represent the store in the right way. Of course, they want to make sure you’re going to work, and not just standing around. Then, there were a lot of driving-related questions: what you do in these certain types of situations, kind of just verbal questions about driving, basically.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Papa John’s Delivery Driver: If you’re applying for the position, of course you want a fuel-efficient, reliable vehicle to sort of maximize the amount of money you’re going to make. You’re usually paid per run, not per mile. And I think that you would want to present yourself, dress relatively nice for the application process, and to ensure that you get the position.

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Papa John’s Driver: At Papa John’s, I was a delivery driver. Basically, my main titles was to help out making pizzas, but my main job was to deliver to customers in the surrounding area.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Papa John’s Driver: The money, the tips. You always have money in your pocket being a delivery driver, always. Some people didn’t tip, but for the most part, depending on where you worked at, you had money in your pocket always.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Papa John’s Driver: You come in, clock in. You might mix a couple of pizzas, but as soon as you get in, there’s 10-15 orders ready to go. You get about five orders, maybe three orders at a time, depending on your experience on the job. You basically go out, deliver the pizzas to the person’s house, and come back in a timely manner to get the next shipment.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Papa John’s Driver: The application was fairly easy. Very simple. I think it was actually one page, front and back. The interview process… they basically wanted to know if I knew my areas, did I have a GPS, was I familiar with working with customers, how would I treat a customer if something did go bad.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Papa John’s Driver: Basically, what would you do if a customer wasn’t happy with their food? A lot of times in the fast food industry, people do try to get one over, try to cheat the system. They’ll be like, “My pizza’s wrong,” eat half the pizza, and leave a piece of hair on it. You have to understand how to differentiate between real and fake, and they wanted to know if you would be able to do that, and what you could do to save that pizza, save that company. And you also have to be aware how to be safe. You had to have your insurance and tags right.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Papa John’s Driver: Be willing to work, because it’s a job you’re going to have to work for. They’re sometimes where you’re going to have shifts that you’re not going to want to do, but its part of the job. You want money and when you look at your paycheck, you’ll be pleased with the job you did.
