Pizza Hut Interview Questions & Tips

How to Get a Job at Pizza Hut

Global pizza chain Pizza Hut provides thousands of employment opportunities across 6,000-plus U.S. restaurants and roughly 5,000 international locations. Due to the franchising of most locations, the specific hiring and interview processes for Pizza Hut locations vary somewhat from store to store. A majority of Pizza Hut restaurants require only a single job interview to determine hiring eligibility. In some rare instances, Pizza Hut implements series of interviews applicants must complete for employment. One-to-one interviews stand as the most general and widely used interview format by Pizza Hut restaurants.

Scheduling an Interview

Applicants for all positions may begin the hiring process online. Pizza Hut still circulates paper hiring documents that job seekers can physically submit to desired locations, as well. After submitting the required hiring materials, Pizza Hut applicants wait for word from a representative to schedule a job interview. Eligible candidates receive a phone call to schedule job interviews in two weeks' time or less if need for workers is pressing. If not, applicants may wait as long as six months to hear back from Pizza Hut, as the popular chain hires as needed and keeps applicant information on file for extended periods of time.

Questions to Expect

During Pizza Hut job interviews, the most common subjects touched upon include:

Delivery driver job hopefuls often answer questions like:
  • "Do you have reliable transportation?"
  • "Do you have any moving violations or accidents on your record?"
Other delivery driver interview questions ask for valid proof of insurance and screen for punctuality and reliability. The only differing interview questions Pizza Hut managerial candidates might answer are:
  • "Do you consider yourself a leader?"
  • "Can you provide examples of how you were able to effectively manage employees at past jobs?"

What to Wear

Applicants should behave correspondingly to the position desired and dress similarly, as well. Management hopefuls should wear sensible dresses, appropriate tops and skirts, dress shirts, ties, or other semi-formal clothing. Business-casual clothing often serves entry-level job seekers appropriately, though Pizza Hut may hire workers wearing casual clothing as long as the attire displays nothing vulgar or offensive. Demonstrating a positive attitude and respect toward Pizza Hut hiring managers serve as excellent ways to stand out among other applicants. The Pizza Hut interview process largely operates informally and allows candidates to relax and speak in conversational tones.

How Long Do Interviews Last?

An applicant may only spend 10 to 15 minutes in each Pizza Hut job interview.

How to Prepare for Your Interview

The best way to ensure solid performance is to plan ahead and research the desired position, location of choice, company background, and the pizza industry. While seemingly excessive for entry-level jobs, conducting research and being able to recite specifics about Pizza Hut and the pizzeria industry in general shows genuine desire to work for the chain and further interest in the undertakings of the company.

When to Expect a Call Back

Always express gratitude for the opportunity to attend Pizza Hut interviews and ask questions about the best possible way to check on hiring status once the Pizza Hut interview process concludes. A sizeable number of applicants land jobs during the interview process, but the pizza chain may wait and make final deliberations a few days after all candidates have been screened.

Pizza Hut Delivery Driver Interview Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Pizza Hut Employee: My job title was delivery driver, and when there isn’t deliveries to be taken, I work in the kitchen. I make food, catch up on dirty dishes, and I will also prep dough for the next day. Whenever you close… I’m a closing driver most of the time, so I have to sweep the floor, clean everything up, make sure all the dough for the next day is in the cooler, ready to be used in the morning. I count the drawer, making sure I have enough, take out the trash, and that’s pretty much it as far as my duties go.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Pizza Hut Employee: The work environment is very friendly. It’s continuous; there’s always something to do.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Pizza Hut Employee: Specifically, delivering is nice because you get to take a break from running around the pizza shop. You get to get in your car and relax. You can listen to music. Once you get to the houses, you interact with people, which I like doing, as well. I like answering the phones, interacting with people. It’s just something that helps the time go by a lot faster. You don’t feel like you’re working so much when you’re talking to people. That’s about my favorites.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Pizza Hut Employee: Typical day would be clocking in. Being a delivery driver, my main focuses are to get the dough done and staying up on the dishes. First thing I do is go in there and see how much dough is prepped for the next day and how much is left to do. I see how the dishes are, and I got to get those dirty pans washed and sanitized before I can use the dough out of the freezer. I got to get the pans washed so we can reuse them. Then, I just pay attention to what deliveries need to go out and I take the deliveries out, come back. Same thing as I said before, dishes and dough. Around closing time, you start doing the final cleanup; take out trash, haul the boxes out to the dumpster, sweep and mop, and call it a day.

Interviewer: How would describe the application and interview process?
Pizza Hut Employee: I would describe it as not too intimidating. Like I said, they’re very friendly people and talk to you like a person. You feel like they’re more your friends, so it’s not too intimidating. They just asked simple questions. If you’re a delivery driver, they ask you questions relating to that job. If you have DUIs or anything bad on your driving record, that will definitely hurt you in the process, so they do ask those questions. They ask if you’ve had any other experience working at a pizza place, which is always a plus if you do. It saves them time having to train you on the basics. Pizza Hut has its own system where you have to go through a certain amount of tests on a computer, which not only tests you but trains you at the same time. After it trains you, it goes back through what it trained you and tests you. That’s also a whole other learning process that comes into it. But, the interview is mildly intimidating. Like I said, they’re very friendly, so it was a pleasant experience.

Interviewer: What should the applicant wear to the job interview?
Pizza Hut Employee: Khaki pants, maybe a button-up dress shirt. That’s what I would recommend. That’s what I wore, and I got the job. Definitely don’t look like a slob.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Pizza Hut Employee: They wanted to know your hours, your availability. They wanted to know if you had worked at Pizza Hut in the past. They ask you about your driving record. If you want to be a delivery driver, it’s important to have a good driving record, and that’s what they focus on.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking for employment?
Pizza Hut Employee: Tell them you’re willing to work whatever hours you can. They love that. Anywhere you’d work, that would be great advice. It’s real flexible. They have a lot of people on their schedule, so there are a lot of different shifts. It’s great for school; if you’re in school, they’ll work around your school schedule amazingly. They’ll give you the hours that you need. Basically, just tell them that you’re willing to work, whatever hours you can get you would appreciate, and they’ll definitely take that into consideration.

  • Greg says:

Nothing to be nervous about for an interview. Mine was basically a meet & greet with more paperwork. The only way you can apply at a Pizza Hut around my area is by online only. So filling out the application is a breeze.

The hiring process was long though. You have to be very patient. Doesn’t seem like Managers have much hiring power. For almost every paper I had to fill out, it had to be sent to “corporate” to be signed off on. This is what made my hiring process so long.

To be more specific, from the day of my interview, it took 12 days for me to finally start working there.

  • Kiwi says:

You should always know a little history about the place. It really looks good on you, it gives off that you have some intelligence. 🙂
