Quiznos Interview Questions & Tips

Company Overview

The sandwich-toasting fast food chain is dedicated to providing fresh sandwiches that are prepared and served by skilled workers. The quick-service restaurant chain looks for friendly, self-motivated new employees to join the team, and each store uses the interview process to find quality candidates. A company with numerous franchised locations, Quiznos leaves specific hiring procedures up to individual stores.

Short Interview Process

Applicants generally receive quick turnaround after submitting the necessary information for employment consideration. Depending on the volume of applicants, hiring managers may contact prospective team members the same day; however, most applicants receive word about scheduling a Quiznos job interview within a couple of weeks.

What to Expect During the Interview Process

The interview process for an entry-level role, like a team member or sub-maker position, is simple and informal. Typically, the process involves one face-to-face conversation with a shift leader or restaurant manager. The conversation is often used to gauge an applicant's personality, and hiring managers often hit on topics, such as job skills, availability, and the ability to work as part of a team. Specific interview questions may include:

  • "Why do you want to work for Quiznos?"
  • "What qualities do you bring to the team?"
  • "How long do you expect to work for us?"
Past work experience is beneficial for job hopefuls but is not a requirement for entry-level jobs. Depending on the location, managers may also ask if applicants have reliable transportation options.

Managerial Interviews

For management roles, job hopefuls generally need participate in two interviewing rounds with Quiznos. Manager interviews include basic questions and challenging situational queries like:

  • "Tell me about yourself."
  • "A guest says the cashier gave him the wrong change. What do you do?"
Managerial applicants also need to answer open-ended questions like:
  • "What is your leadership style?"
Oftentimes, management job interviews close with salary discussions.

Making a Good Impression

When participating in a job interview, remember to answer all questions thoroughly and to the best of your ability. Be sure to smile often and give off a friendly vibe. Try to avoid over-elaborating or spending too much time answering one single question. Highlight previous experience and examples of when you worked successfully as part of a team or group. Thank the hiring manager for the opportunity once the Quiznos interview concludes.

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Quiznos Employee: I was a prep tech. I would get there before and pull bread, then get all the food stations ready. Then, when customers came in around lunchtime, I would take orders and fill orders, then clean up afterwards.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Quiznos Employee: The food and the hours. I only worked four hours a day. It was just part-time.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Quiznos Employee: You’d go in, and I’d just start the day. I pulled bread, take orders until about two o’clock. Then, that would be my day.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Quiznos Employee: I always fill out my application and requested an interview if they have time. And if not, make sure to call them back. I keep calling back to let them know I really want the job. Then, just go to the interview.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Quiznos Employee: He just wanted to make sure I could work weekends, and that was what I was looking for. I was just looking for a job.

Quiznos Crew Member Interview Video

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.

Quiznos Crew Member: I prepped the food. It was a while since I worked there, but I prepped the food and I washed dishes. My main job was to wash dishes and things like that, but I floated, so I guess a floater.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?

Quiznos Crew Member: The employees were great to work with. They ranged from all different ages. There were people that were like 50 to high school students that worked there. And management was pretty nice to work with. They were more relaxed than maybe they should have been. Customers were different. Some of them were nice, some were rude, and you just had to go with it.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.

Quiznos Crew Member: You come in the morning – I worked the morning shift. In the morning, we would have a little meeting, going over anything that wasn’t done last week, or things that management sent down through us. Then, I would go to prepping the meats and weighing them, making sure a sandwich had so many grams of meat on the sandwich; we would measure that for the sandwich before they opened and put all that out. From there, I would either have to give out samples or be in the back doing dishes as they needed to be done.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?

Quiznos Crew Member: I filled out an application, I submitted it, and then I’d come in and I had a short interview asking me questions, like where have I worked before and had I worked anywhere. So, they asked me if I could stand for long stints on my feet, could I carry 20 pounds over my head, things like that. Asked how I would get along with others, pretty much let me know that if you could not get along with others, then this job’s not for you That’s pretty much it.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?

Quiznos Crew Member: I had to submit my birth certificate and social security card, a transcript from my school – to say I was in school – because to work there, you have to be in school if you’re a teenager to work. You couldn’t just drop out or anything. A worker’s permit… because I was underage. That’s all I can remember.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?

Quiznos Crew Member: Be ready to stand on your feet for a long time, wear comfortable shoes, and get along with the people you work with because it’s a team effort kind of job.

Quiznos Shift Manager Interview Video

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Quiznos Shift Manager: I was the shift manager. Basically, I either opened or closed the store. If I opened I would have to do the prep work, making sure everything is on temperature, making sure everything is heated properly, make the soups, make the sauces that you dip all the food in, then take the chairs down and open the store.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Quiznos Shift Manager: It was actually probably my favorite job. The work atmosphere was my favorite, because it was comfortable – it was always like a family environment. Everyone that was hired basically became a family member, even if they were new. Everybody was generally nice. We’ve had a lot of good comments for our Quiznos, but generally it was my favorite atmosphere to work in because everyone still did their work.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Quiznos Shift Manager: Typical day, I usually used to work the whole day. I did double shifts, so it would basically be me coming in. We checked the checklist see what we need to do, if we need to cut any meat or cheese or anything, and we prepped for the night shift, or the morning shift depending on what shift we were working. It’s usually really busy during lunchtime, then we always have that mini rush until it dies down. We get all our work done on the checklist, then just wait for people to come in, then clean and shut the store down.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Quiznos Shift Manager: I had to send an application in with my resume. Then, I got a call from the manager asking me to come in and get interviewed.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Quiznos Shift Manager: He wanted to know if I was involved with anything at school, like extracurricular organizations or anything, any sports. That way, he knew if I had the time to work during the hours he needed. Then, he asked if I could work nighttime, because I was actually only 15 1/2, so we had to ask if I was okay working certain times, working late, or working with certain people. If I had any past experience helping out with a job that was similar to this.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Quiznos Shift Manager: It’s a pretty easy job for most people, but sometimes it can get you crazy, and sometimes customers can kind of drive you crazy at the end of the day. But it isn’t really that bad if you have a positive attitude and just get along with everyone you work with and being around different types people. That’s basically it. If you can interact with people that aren’t like you, I guess, then you’re pretty solid for the job.
