What to Expect During the Interview Process
Frozen yogurt chain Red Mango uses the interview process to find friendly and helpful workers. The evaluation process for customer-serving jobs, like server and team member positions, is typically held one-on-one with a hiring manager. A simple and relaxed process, the Red Mango interview usually unfolds as an informal conversation. Some questions applicants may be asked include:
- "Why do you want to work at Red Mango?"
- "On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your people skills?"
- "Explain a time when you had a conflict with a coworker. How did you resolve it?"
Interviews for Management Positions
Red Mango managerial applicants usually need to participate in a phone interview followed by two face-to-face interviews with upper-level personal, like general managers or store owners. Phone interviews cover very basic topics, such as career path, prior experience, and interest in the ice cream shop company. In-person interviews feature basic questions like:
- "Tell me about yourself."
- "Tell me about a time when you had to please an upset customer."
Tips for Success
Arrive on time to the Red Mango job interview and dress business-casual. Display a confident demeanor throughout the interview process. Show an upbeat attitude and a willingness to provide excellent customer service. If possible, show an ability to work a flexible schedule. Red Mango generally offers preferential treatment to applicants able to work nights, weekends, and irregular hours.
Following Up
At the end of the Red Mango interview, thank the hiring manager for the opportunity. If not immediately offered a job, wait a few days and contact the interviewer to inquire about hiring status. Applicants showing persistence may receive additional employment consideration during the Red Mango hiring process.
Dominick Mezzapesa says:
I interviewed with the store manager for a Managers position. The interview was more like a friendly talk. I do have a very extensive resume so I do not think my experience would have been questioned.
The are conducting more interviews with other people but I am pretty sure I will get the offer. This particular owner has 10 Red Mango’s and I have already been told of having to do a second interview with the owners.
Starting salary is 30k+ for the first year then you get a bump up to 40k
But, there were none of the standard “What is your best customer service moment” Questions. I wore a suit but I think it would have been just as appropriate to wear a Dress shirt, and tie and leave the jacket home.
