Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Saltgrass Hostess: I was just a hostess. All I did was take people to their table, cleaned up, kept the hostess area cleaned, did anything that the waiters and waitresses asked.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Saltgrass Hostess: It was busy all the time, like Fridays, the weekends it was really busy. You’d usually be on an hour to two hour wait. I think, in my opinion, the hostess have the hardest job, especially when it’s on wait because you have to deal with all the people, not just the people at your table.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Saltgrass Hostess: It was fun. The managers were very nice. The food was good. They had a great discount for employees. That was always a perk.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Saltgrass Hostess: I walked in to get an application, and the manager saw me. He told me to come back the next day for an interview, and I got the job, but there’s also a packet. You have to take tests just to be a host, which I thought was crazy, but I mean you learn every single thing that the waitress and the servers do. You go, you pass a test, and you get the job.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Saltgrass Hostess: I don’t know. I like to talk, so I was really talkative to the manager. I told him I wanted to work, so that usually gets me in.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Saltgrass Hostess: Talk and smile and tell people you want to work and you’re willing to work, because they need workers.
