What Does a Starbucks Cashier Do?
A Starbucks cashier performs cash transactions with customers. In addition, many cashiers perform other duties for Starbucks, such as preparing drinks, seating customers, and serving guests.
Traits of a Successful Cashier
Because of the popularity of Starbucks and the amount of traffic, every employee must exhibit professional courtesy to both customers and coworkers alike. Many entry-level and first time workers with Starbucks start off making just above minimum wage. Experienced Starbucks associates usually make $10.00 to $15.00 an hour. Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Starbucks Cashier: My current duties… well, my current job title at Starbucks is cashier – floater, prepare drinks, just everything. I prepare drinks, and the drinks are very interesting. As you see customers come up with every day, you’ll see how much work you have to put into making a drink. So, it was really interesting to see that. Those are some of the duties I do.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Starbucks Cashier: The work environment is very relaxed. You can be yourself, but you also have to know what you’re doing. You can’t just be too relaxed to the point of where you lose sight of what you’re supposed to do. So, very relaxed and calm. Very friendly – everybody’s friendly. Just know what you’re doing, and you’ll do fine.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Starbucks Cashier: Typical work day: I clock in, and first I see whether we’re busy, if there’s a long line. First, I see where I need to be at just by looking. Sometimes, they don’t necessarily put you in a certain place; you might just have to fall into place or help somebody else if you’re too busy. If not, they’ll tell you whether or not you’re a floater or cashier and where you need to go. So for the most part, it’s just wherever they need you.
Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Starbucks Cashier: The interview process is they pretty much they ask you about your work history, they ask you about your educational history. They also ask you questions about yourself, like personal questions: where you’re from, what type of environment do you prefer to work in, like a more fast-paced environment or a more slow-paced environment. And they go based on that.
Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Starbucks Cashier: With Starbucks, you have to have, like I said, customer service experience. Be able to let your personality show and just having a strong work ethic. That’s really what its about.
