Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
The Children’s Place Store Manager: Okay, so I had a managerial position where I would basically handle cash at the beginning of the shifts, and then at the end. A lot of the time, it would be from open to close, but that was during the summer. Then, whenever I started having more responsibilities as far as school and stuff, I would just go in during specific shifts, and like I said, you count cash, and you generate schedules for the other employees, and then just kind of oversee everything. I wasn’t too high up to also do employee work as well, so stocking shelves, cleaning, or just anything that needed to be done.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
The Children’s Place Store Manager: Pretty chaotic. It’s always in and out, and it’s a kid’s store, so it’s very, it was always loud and families bring their kids in. It was fun, I mean there was a lot of employees that we always got along, and it was fun. Yeah.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
The Children’s Place Store Manager: Whenever I went through, you would first apply, and then they would call you back in order to interview. Whenever you came in, you would basically talk about your schedule and your availability, and then you would just, I think they, yeah, so availability and you filled out the proper paperwork. Then, you, they would call you back, and whenever they called you back, they would let you know whether or not you got the job or not. You would go back in and that’s whenever you would get name tag, just all the other extra paper work filled out.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
The Children’s Place Store Manager: Well, scheduling, a lot of scheduling questions as far as when would you be available? How often can you work? Then, it would go as far as personality questions. Do you work well with people? Have you worked in this environment before? Do you know how to handle cash and stuff? Then, I think they asked also just a lot of experience questions.

Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?
The Children’s Place Store Manager: Took them about a week, and then they called and just left me a message and said that I had received the job, and if I wanted to come in and just finalize everything. It was just like, you had to come in and finish the paperwork, and then that was, then you could start.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
The Children’s Place Store Manager: I guess be friendly and be, present yourself well to where you can, you work well with kids.

The Children’s Place Employee: My basic job duties was more so customer service and putting the children’s clothes back in the right place and helping the customers with questions or concerns.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
The Children’s Place Employee: It was definitely fast-paced, and you just kept moving.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
The Children’s Place Employee: My duty was more so to fold the clothes and to put everything back in its place. If there was a piece of clothing that was in the wrong section, then my job was to put it back in the right direction. Also, making sure that the store was clean and organized, like clothes weren’t everywhere. So, that was my job.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
The Children’s Place Employee: I just went into The Children’s Place. I asked if they were hiring for the holiday season. They said yes. So, they had me fill out an application and then they gave me a call to set up an interview. They just asked me basic questions about myself and why I wanted the job. I told them that, “I’m just looking for some extra cash, and I had seen that they were hiring.” I think that I also had to do some computer work. I think they ask you some questions just to see what your personality is, to see whether or not you’re fit for the job. After they said that they wanted me to work there, I had to fill out some more paperwork, like they ask you for your tax information, your address, and just basic questions.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
The Children’s Place Employee: I guess they just wanted to know about my work history. They wanted to know about my education – just basic questions about myself, in general. Like I said, my education, what type of person I was, what my favorite hobbies were – just questions to see what my personality was like and my qualifications.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
The Children’s Place Employee: Just go in there, fill out the application. When you first go in there, make sure you’re friendly, say hi, and make sure your appearance looks good. Dress casual even though you’re just filling out the application. Go to the interview. Make sure you get there on time. Just be honest. Be yourself. I would also say bring a resume, so they can look at your qualifications and they can have that on file. They can see that you really want to work there, that you have working experience.

    You have to be at least 16 or 17 and just dress casual the dress code to work there is black shirt jeans or black pants and black close toed shoes they want you to be organized and nice. You must like kids because they will be in and out all day with there parents 🙂
