Yard House Interview Questions & Tips

Scoring an Interview at Yard House

Yard House, a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, boasts open hourly positions at each location and often grants applicants walk-in interviews. Job seekers hoping to gain employment at Yard House Bar and Grille must first submit hiring requests online or at the location of desired employment. Candidates hoping to obtain on-the-spot interviews should submit application forms during slow hours and dress in business attire to make good first impressions. While immediate interviews prove common, entry-level applicants often sit with multiple managers to discuss job duties and industry specific inquiries before securing employment with Yard House. Some locations conduct these interviews back to back, while others stretch hiring sessions out over a week or two.

What to Expect During the Interview Process

Managers broach topics like past employment, necessary skills, and availability during the 10 to 15 minute interview sessions at Yard House. These common themes take shape in questions like:

  • "Can you tell me about your experience in the restaurant industry?"
  • "How do you function in high-stress situations?"
  • "Are you able to work nights and weekends starting out?"
Applicants should respond to each question thoughtfully, keeping responses positive and customer focused.

How to Prepare

Candidates should study Yard House vision and values prior to the interview, as some hiring managers ask company related questions. Potential Yard House associates should provide examples of past experience and show expertise of the skills required by the position. Thank interviewers for their time, and follow up via telephone or email three to four days after the interview if an employment decision has not been reached.

OK, I’ll be leaving my current job as of next year so I’m getting ready to start a new chapter in my life, I have been with the same company for 25 years.
So I would really like to learn how to Brew Beer, There is a new Yard House opening in San Jose at Santana Row sometime soon and I would like to work my way into a job slowly,
Work 4 + hours or less a day or every other day to learn the ropes of brewing.
Is there any chance that you would do this or are you only hiring certifed brewers for this position.

Just had an interview for the new Yard House @ The Linq in Las Vegas it was an easy interview but left confused. I told the manager I had already memorized the snack menu and was 1/2 way thru the appetizer menu and her reply was “how cute”! What the heck? Im not sure how studying my butt off til 3am to learn the menu is cute? Then I was told by someone I might get called for 2nd interview. ?????? I thought only serious applicants got interviewd? I wish only serious managers did interviews. Frustrated!!!!
