Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Toys R Us Stock Associate: My job title at Toys R Us was stock. We worked the third shift, so we were there just to stock the place before Black Friday. It was very different. I had never had a stocking job before.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Toys R Us Stock Associate: The overall atmosphere was basically they gave us instructions and they told us what to do, and we did it. It was a quiet atmosphere, because it was third shift – the doors were shut. We put boxes together. So, basically they told us what to do and we just did it. So, that was the atmosphere. Quiet atmosphere, really.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Toys R Us Stock Associate: We would come in, then we would have a target for us to do, and we were told what to do, like how many boxes need to be put in a certain area.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Toys R Us Stock Associate: Basically, they gave us an application, we filled out the application. They sent us to about two interviews, and what they were basically looking for was people-type, people-person, non-threatening type people were what they were really looking for. And just seeing if you could do the job or not. So, basically, if it was like a hands-on job and if you had common sense, that was really what they were looking for.

Interviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?
Toys R Us Stock Associate: Did you like Toys R Us? They asked if we have always been a fan of Toys R Us. They asked us some common sense type questions. By it being a third-shift job, by it being a third-shift stock job, they didn’t ask too many questions at all. But they were really trying to see and infer if we were like people-persons. They were looking for if we were like a threat, but we weren’t a threat. But it was a good job, great job to get us through the Christmas break.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Toys R Us Stock Associate: I believe they picked me out because I’m non-threatening and I’m a people-type person. I follow instructions real easy. Definitely had common sense, so I believe that’s why they picked me out. Most importantly, I was easy-going. That’s the reason I believe they picked me out.

Interviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?
Toys R Us Stock Associate: If you want a job, definitely for Toys R Us, you definitely want to work during the Christmas season. That would be a great place to work. My advice is you definitely want to work first or second shift instead of working third, because third shift being inside a store can be kind of monotonous, but you definitely want to work first or second shift when the doors are open. But it was a good job. They really helped me with the paycheck and the money, so I definitely appreciate that.
