Two Men and a Truck Driver: I was a mover and a driver, which is the guy who moves the furniture for residential and commercial properties. The driver, if you did good as a mover, you get moved up to a driver. You take your physical and little raise and you start driving the trucks as well as moving the furniture.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Two Men and a Truck Driver: It’s stressful. There’s a lot of hours one day, like 14 hours and 2 new jobs and physically demanding. Other days, nothing. It’s not very reliable but during the summer, you’re going to get tons of hours. During the winter, you might as well find another part-time job.
Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Two Men and a Truck Driver: The tips were great. You get to meet a lot of cool people, customers. If you’re a college student and need furniture for your apartment, you get a lot of free furniture doing move jobs because sometimes just can’t move stuff and they just say “If you want it, you get it.” The pay isn’t too bad.

Two Men and a Truck Driver: Basically you go into any office, and I think they’re all franchised, so you just go in. Some do it online, most do it by paperwork still. Just go in and get a paper application, fill it out, and take it in, talk to a manager. If they like the way you act and look and the application looks, then they call you back and then you talk to them again. If you can pass a physical and drug test, then you have the job and they start training you.

Two Men and a Truck Driver: They basically asked under a stressful situation, can you handle it; do you have the availability to work strange hours, you don’t have kids at home, you got to be off by 3, you get them from school, or you don’t have another job you have to be at or anything like that or school. They need somebody with open availability.
Interviewer: How were you notified that you received the job?
Two Men and a Truck Driver: It didn’t take too long. Of course my experience might have been different, but only a day or two after I turned the application in. I was lucky, I got to speak with someone who was in the office that day. That isn’t always the case but when I turned in the paperwork, somebody was there for me to talk to. They called me back I think it was a day or two later, and I went back in the next day. It was about almost a week from when I first went in to when I was actually hired on.

Two Men and a Truck Driver: There’s different types of people you’re going to work with everywhere you go. Just be patient and remember you’re there to do a job. Other than that, it’s good pay and it’ll keep you busy and keep you in good physical condition.
