U-Haul Interview Questions & Tips

Hiring process information for an interview at U Haul

What to Expect After Submitting an Application

Much like the company name suggests, U-Haul provides customers with the tools to effectively move and store belongings via rental trucks and storage pods. Employment hunters commonly find entry-level job titles like customer service agent and sales representative at the popular rental company. After applying, candidates usually receive calls or emails from human resources representatives to schedule phone interviews. During phone screenings, corporate officials typically review resumes and confirm applicants still want to work at U-Haul. Human resource personnel then set up face-to-face interviews with qualified candidates to formally begin the U-Haul hiring process. Prepare for each stage by investigating U-Haul core values. Brush up on math skills, review hiring forms, and rehearse common interview questions with a trusted friend.

Face-To-Face Interviews

U-Haul often uses the panel format to interview candidates face-to-face, with several hiring managers navigating various topics to determine the eligibility of each candidate. Dress respectably and arrive on time for each job interview. Applicants may respond to inquiries like:

  • "Tell me about your current schedule."
  • "How would you handle an irate customer?"
  • "How does your previous experience qualify you for this position?"
Listen carefully and respond to U-Haul interview questions directly and positively.

Pre-Employment Testing and Background Checks

Current employees cite the communication of open schedule availability as an important factor in gaining employment with U-Haul. Refer to past experience when answering U-Haul interview questions if possible. Keep responses customer-focused and express desire to work on a team. Applicants often take computerized math and geography tests after question-and-answer sessions with hiring managers. The final step of the U-Haul hiring process usually consists of drug screening and criminal background checks. Some candidates receive offers of employment at the end of the final interview. Other applicants wait several days before hiring managers extend job offers via email or telephone. Remain patient and stay in contact with hiring officials throughout each step of the U-Haul interview process.

The advertised position that I’m applying for is as a MOONLIGHTER. So far I haven’t noticed it listed with the other jobs that U Haul may have available. It would be helpful to me to have some idea what the job description is for that position. Otherwise this online application seems to be comprehensive and informative. I’m looking forward to the possible opportunity to work for U Haul. Thank you, Sincerely Mark
