Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist Interview Video

Video Transcript

Intverviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.

Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: I was a customer care specialist. I took calls, placed orders, resolved issues with orders and I also helped out store associates at their stores.

Intverviewer: What was the work environment like?

Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: Very calm and relaxing. Everyone’s in their own cubicle. There’s not so much noise going on. It was a relaxed setting.

Intverviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?

Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: Favorite part; sitting in that one spot. Yeah, that was my favorite part. I didn’t like moving around a lot. Answering the calls was fun too, talking to new people.

Intverviewer: Please describe the application and interview process.

Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: Yeah, the application, you fill it out online. You typically get a fast response. It’s like one or two days. They’ll email you if they’re interested and give you options on days to come in for an interview. There’s not too much being asked of you on the application, so it’s pretty simple application.

Intverviewer: What questions did the interviewer ask during the job interview?

Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: They are going to ask you to sell them something, because you have to be a sales representative as well as a customer care specialist. It doesn’t have to be one of their products, but you have to be good at selling, like making a customer want to buy. They also ask pros and cons, strengths and weaknesses that you have. Typical interview questions.

Intverviewer: How were you notified that you received the job? Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: After they selected me for an interview that took two days after I filled out the application. After the interview process I got a call back the next day saying, “Congratulations, you’ve been hired,” and I started that following Monday.

Intverviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?

Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: I think it was my tone of voice. I got that a lot from customers too. They said, “You have a real professional tone of voice that we like to hear over the phone.” Because they do you listen to your calls. And also the customers will talk to your supervisor if they want to give praise like, “I really like talking to her. She was very calm even though I was irritable and being very vicious.” Yeah, that’s what stood out for me.

Intverviewer: What other advice would you give to a job seeker looking to gain employment?

Victoria’s Secret Direct Customer Care Specialist: Some advice I would give is just stay calm. They’re going to get angry. Just be relaxed with them. If you want to talk on the phone … I do recommend if you are a person that doesn’t want to move around a lot, because you’re not going to be moving at all. Know how to type fast. People are very impatient, so if they’re looking for something make sure you’re on it. Other than that it’s very hands-on. They’ll teach you everything in training.

Video Transcript

Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties.
Victoria’s Secret Sales Associate: Sales associate. My primary duties were to wear a black sports coat, try to lure customers into the store as possible, and you had to wear red lipstick for the associate’s job. They broke it off into branches. You could either be in just perfume, makeup, or just with clothes. I was the one with perfume.

Interviewer: What was the work environment like?
Victoria’s Secret Sales Associate: It was pretty laidback, but you had to dress up. You had to wear makeup, and a special trademark was the red lipstick.

Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there?
Victoria’s Secret Sales Associate: We got free stuff. If a new perfume came out, we got to try it free. I liked the part about dressing up and wearing the makeup because I’ve been doing that for a long time, and I finally found a job that required it. So, that was kind of different. I liked that.

Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee.
Victoria’s Secret Sales Associate: They’d be involved in opening the store, which will consist of you and another manager, which had the key or the combination to the store – you come in, you straighten up from the last shift, make sure everything is in order, in order for the store to open up as usual, which is usually around nine or ten or so. So, you have to be there probably 45 minutes early. And, throughout the day, customers will come in and out, and specifically my job was to get people to test the lotions and fragrances. And, throughout the day, I would get as many people to buy. We didn’t exactly work on commission, but I figured the more people you could get to buy, perhaps you would be able to keep that job because it did depend on sales.

Interviewer: How would you describe the application and interview process?
Victoria’s Secret Sales Associate: The application… they asked about prior work history, which I had experience. They probably asked about attendance and reliability and the ordinary stuff, like if you have a criminal record, are you ill, those kinds of things. You fill in the box, typical application stuff. The interview… you started out with someone, but it wasn’t an actual interview. She just went over the application with me and gave you some history about Victoria’s Secret and all that. So, I asked about the interview, and that’s when I was informed that, “You might mind if our interview is a little different from your typical interview. We actually put you out on the floor and see how you do for a few minutes.” Then, I was told to be at this podium with perfume and fragrances right there in front of me, and as people went about, I was to say, “Hey, do you like this?”, because of course you can smell all these fragrances out in the hallways. Most of it pretty much sold itself. When nobody is standing there, you can spray a little perfume or dab a little lotion here, and that’s how you got a conversation rolling. And the next thing you know, that person would be in the store – and when I looked around, there would be several people in the store. I was told I was hired because I was able to do that.

Interviewer: How can an interviewee tell if the interview went well?
Victoria’s Secret Sales Associate: If you got an interview on the spot, you’ll be able to tell that it went pretty well on the application. Because if you have questions, they needed to check references or anything like that, and you had to wait for a call. Then, you might not be getting the job.

Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?
Victoria’s Secret Sales Associate: I think I had the smile, and I think I came with part of the apparel on that they request for their job. I didn’t know that. I didn’t know that I would be required to wear a black blazer. I had on a blazer – I don’t know if it was black – but the lipstick I absolutely had on, and that was one of the things – you had to wear lipstick every day to work.
